SIMPLE PLEASURES

A hearty plate of soul food (New Orleans To Go's "Bowl of Soul," with mac and cheese, cornbread, collard greens, and creole meat loaf with barbecue sauce yesterday - thanks again, guys!).

Finishing a load of laundry and discovering all your socks still have their mates.

Going on vacation for the first time in a year.

I'll be winging my way to California tomorrow morning, and it may be a while until I catch up with you again, my friends. But if you're good, I'll bring back photos to share. My traveling companions and I may not have all our plans nailed down. But one thing we're not going to miss is the San Francisco's Ferry Plaza Farmers Market.

Better get that last load of pre-vacation laundry out of the dryer. With any luck, there are more matching socks in my future.

If you get to Fisherman's Wharf, try the Clam Chowder Sourdough Bowl at Boudins on the Embarcadero. You won't regret it.

Have fun.

We went to San Francisco on our honeymoon. It was amazing. Our bartender at our hotel bar was originally from Cincinnati! Small world.

Have fun on your vacation! Where are you going?? I want to see LOADS of pictures!

I never get all my socks back after a trip to the laundry room. It's tragic.

Hmmmm San Fran. You could go visit Alice at Chez Panisse.

Meanwhile send that plate of food over to me. I will make quick work of it.

Our day and a half in SF was glorious, and though we couldn't make it to nearly all the great food places I would have enjoyed, the Ferry Plaza farmers market was astounding. Buzzy, we did make it to Boudin's, although not for the chowder. And Boudin's did provide the food for our sunset cruise of the Bay. Shamy, alas, no time for Chez Panisse in our quick tour.

The rest of the week I'm staying between Sacramento and Tahoe, with plenty of cooking, and other diversions, in store.

Meanwhile, imagine my surprise when I found out I won another CSN Stores gift certificate - check out http://sandwich365.blogspot.com/2010/09/sandwich-contest-winners.html.

Take care, all,
eggy

Hello Eggy, Congratulations on your S365 Sandwich Contest win! All of the sandwiches were winners, but yours had it all. Unusual ingredients, beautiful presentation and it was totally unique. Enjoy your shopping spree at any of CSNStores.com online stores, and come back to S365 often (I know I'm already a regular visitor here)for the love of the simple sandwich. Have a fantastic vacation.
